A Message from the Board Chair, Todd Foster

Dear Friends of Family Service:

I am humbled by the task before us and honored by the trust put in me to continue the good work started by those before me.  Next year, Family Service will celebrate 60 years of transforming the lives of the people in our community and we will work to maintain the quality and reach of our programs.

As a board member, I am impressed with the organization’s ability to move quickly and adapt to the changing needs of the community.  Leading during this turbulent time means making hard decisions and envisaging innovative plans that will position us to meet challenges and take advantage of opportunities in the next year.

Our organization has assembled a professional and dedicated staff to run the life changing programs for children, families, and older adults in our community. We’re fortunate to have three hard-working auxiliaries – Hillsborough, Foothill, and Red-Car-Bel — who support us by hosting extraordinary fundraisers, volunteering for events, and contributing their time, talents and professional experience.  Rounding out the Family Service family is our dedicated Board of Directors.  They provide the precious commodity of their professional experience and expertise to assist; in navigating our course. A network of people with diverse backgrounds, our auxiliaries and board are united by our mission to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency for the people of our community and thus build a strong and caring community.

In my first term on the Family Service Board of Directors, in 2002, I knew I was aligning myself with an incredible organization and my involvement has been incredibly rewarding. As Board Chair, I take on a leadership role in a time when change and adaptation will mark Family Service’s history.  Our accomplishments will be attained through the cooperative efforts and combined resources of the people of our community.

Join us in making a difference to Peninsula families in need, I welcome you to visit our downtown San Mateo headquarters for a tour, join an auxiliary, attend our events, or make a donation by calling 650-403-4300. Working together in our community, Family Service will continue to prosper so that we can serve even more struggling people today and for another 60 years.

Sincerely,
Todd Foster
Board Chair
